I recently figured out why I feel sick for 2+ weeks every month. It's PMS! I didn't realize that it was actual PMS and thought that it may be related to my thyroid issues. I did some research yesterday and apparently during the luteal phase, right after ovulation, but before your period starts, is when PMS symptoms happen. I get nauseous, tired, irritable, but the worst is the nausea. I never had this happen before I had kids. Does anyone else experience this? Any tips on making it easier to cope with?

Wow, I am going through all that now. I actually went to my OB and I'm having surgery in March. They are going in through my belly button to look at my uterus and do a D&C. When I finally have a period, they last 14 days. UGH.
This hasn't started since I've had my last baby. She's 2 now. All 3 of my children are 7 years apart - none planned.

Back to your post - the nausea is horrible. It's like being prego again. Mine hits me in the evenings, just in time for dinner prep. I don't know how to cope, sorry. I would love info on this also!!
I'm seriously considering getting some seabands in the hopes that it'll help deal with this PMS nausea. My last period was late, my cycle was 40 days instead of 27-31, like normal. I had horrible cramps/continual pain, spotting, and nausea. I took 3 pregnancy tests(POAS tests) and finally got a blood test, all were negative. The pain went away a couple of days before my period started, which was odd, I thought and then I had a completely normal period! I was/am so confused.

I had my IUD removed last thursday in the hopes of preventing the PMS symptoms since I also found out that they could also be contributed to the non-hormonal IUD that I had. I've had it out for less than a week and starting yesterday, the nausea is back. The next time I go near a CVS or Walgreens I'm getting a seaband. lol
Are you taking birth control pills? I had the same problem years ago, and that was the culprit causing it all. Long story short I ended up going off and staying off, and now I don't have any of that.
No...I had an IUD, non-hormonal. I had it removed before this month's period(due in 7-ish days) and so far I've just had a couple days of nausea. It hasn't been too bad and the other symptoms....gone(for the most part). It varied from month to month when I had my IUD, so we'll see what continues to happen!
Maybe it was related somehow to the IUD? If most of your symptoms are gone. I would say see how you are within the next three months. I would guess it would take at least that long to get over any reaction you might have had.

Another thought; (Again, per my own experiences) Something to try...
Make sure you are eating. Have a healthy snack between meals, to always keep something in your stomach. Try to avoid sugar and white bread for a few days. Then, see how you feel. (It's only a couple of days, and won't kill you!Promise!)

Best of luck

Johnina
Thanks for the suggestions. I already try to eat something every 3-ish hours and it's generally pretty healthy and about 300 calories. Usually a little less.

I am taking it as a "wait and see" situation. I don't know what'll happen and I don't know if I'll get pregnant before I can find out! lol
Getting pregnant!! I thought you wanted rid of the nausea? ; )
LOL!! well, if I HAVE to be nauseous, I'd better get something out of it instead of bleeding for a week!! :) Besides, my nausea isn't usually too bad, minor and with certain prenatal pills, I don't have any! :) I don't think this is my month, though because I'm crampy today...supposed to start tomorrow, but I think it'll be at least a few more days before things start happening. I'm gonna take a warm bath in the hope that it'll ease the pain!
Just remember, count from the first day of your period and days#9-16, are the best baby making days!!
hehe Thanks for the tips! My cycles have been so wacky lately, I think it's related to my thyroid. DH and I are pretty active, so I'm sure that things will happen when they're meant to!! Today is CD 3, so...I've got a few more days before I can start wondering about whether or not we've made another little one. :)
I'm always sick right before, during and right after my period. I have tried birthcontrol pills and they made me feel sick all the time. I have horrible cramps along with the nausea, nothing really seems to help.
