I won't tell you who I voted for at the last presidential election, but I really should as I voted specifically to make a point. I chose Ralph Nadar. I never expected him to win, show or even place. I did expect that the other parties would see a growing number of people concerned about the environment and some key issues with government that they would include some of those ideals into their policies. So far, nothing. I am happy with the choice America made, and I am not foolish enough to believe that one man will change the nation or the economy.
Here is my gripe. If you go to the whitehouse.gov and try to send an email to the president, you will see a promise that this administration will be the most communicative and gives you a feel that your email might actually get past the computer robots.
I have sent two emails in two weeks and guess what?? No response. Ten years ago when the internet was still new the whitehouse had email! I emailed and got a response and a hard copy letter signed by the president himself... okay, so he probably didn't sign it but it was a very good imprinting of his signature on the whitehouse letterhead.
Today I received an email from President Obama through Move.org, his campaigning website that invited me to logon to recovery.org. This is another communication point so the president can talk specifically about what he is doing to get the recovery of our economy on the road. Great, terrific... but when you lift the curtains will we be standing there looking at a little hold man pulling levers and pushing buttons and saying, "Never mind the man behind the curtain, the great and powerful Oz has spoken".
I have a job for 4 more months, if the economy doesn't recover, I probably will have to give up my laptop, the internet and this lifestyle that I have grown so accustomed too. Do me a favor and write the president and tell him to respond to my emails. It would truly make my day.
