low milk supply fenugreek

i have low supply. i've tried putting the bottles aside for 2 weeks n didn't help. i've heard of fenugreek but i'm not sure about it. wat r u alls opinion on it? did it work? if so how long did it take 2 increase supply? r there any effects like smell, aches?

Dear Amy,
I did try fenugreek and I dont know if that was what did it, because I tried everything and I guess it all helped. Here is what I tried:

1- After every feeding, pump my breasts for a few minutes to make sure they are drained.
2- If I ever had to supplement with formula, I pumped for 20-30 minutes for each 4 oz bottle of formula consumed.
3- Drank lots of fluids- water, milk, 100% fruit juice. Stayed away from caffeine.
4- Drank fenugreek once a day. I did not notice any effects.

It took about a month to increase my supply and stop using formula to supplement altogether. I now am also able to pump an extra bottle of milk every morning to store in the freezer. I hope this helps!!

Fenugreek is the way to go, the health food stores carry a supplement for lactating mothers that has fenugreek, fennel and nettle, all help enrich and release more milk in breast,,,,i have been using it for two and half years...

I have also recently read, in American Baby magazine, that oatmeal also helps increase supply.

yea my mom told me. i've tried fenugreek for 2 days n its increased my supply. i dont breastfeed much only @ night once and i've seen a difference. i gave up for a while but since i've seen a difference i think i'm going to breastfeed a lot more! thanx for the help!!!
